Most importantly, the food is spot on. Italian food is italian food, but some restaurants set a much higher bar than others. Mangia Bene is definitely on par with some of my other favorite Italian restaurants throughout the Bay Area.
Not sure where the other ratings are coming from, but this place is as bad as it gets, everything tasted like it came out of a package or a can
If you like dessert, you'll love this place, with their extensive dessert menu. Bread pudding is to die for.
One of the best fried calamari appetizers I've ever had. Also, all their soups are tasty, fresh, and homemade. For lunch I'm pretty much stuck on ordering the fried calamari and cup of soup - I like it that much. I'm going to have to go back soon and order the calamari steak. Had that a couple times and it really was tops! Tender, yummy, and not chewy.
Very nice, clean, fun spot, that is not too loud and busy, but not too quiet. The staff is incredibly friendly and the service is fast.
Great Italian restaurant, visiting there in the last 10 years frequently both for business meals and private. We met the owner today and he said that he opened a new place in Oakley. They serve fresh Italean bread and their special dip before you make your order very tasty. Have specials for three day but the normal selection is pottery good, II like the chicken selection and my wife loves the salmon which they make to order.
Best local Italian restaurant. Have never had a bad dish from them. Feels a bit more authentic than other Italian restaurants in the area. If you get cold easily, be sure to bring a light jacket as I've found it to be a bit chilly in the restaurant.
